Life Skills

As a huge part of IDt, we prepare the residents for life outside of IDt.  This is important to build a new foundation other than what they knew before coming to us.  Below are a few of the focuses of learning new life skills:

  • Parenting Skills
  • Marriage Preparation
  • Budgeting & Finances
  • Cooking & Meal Planning
  • Gardening
  • Animal Care

Each resident will attend a church service regularly. During transition, residents will choose a local church family to become connected with.

  • Serving the community
  • Bring unity to the community
  • Become an active part of the community

As a part of the healing of the young person, healing of the family is also an important part of the process.  It is important for the family to support and love the resident while they are at IDt.  This is also a time to rebuild trust.

  • Family classes and support groups are offered periodically
  • Repairing of broken family relationships is a priority
